It takes a strong man with bold face to look into the eyes of his victim and say: Sorry I was wrong. Sorry I hurt you and your family. Or sorry I broke your heart, please forgive me. And it takes a victim with strong heart and great spirit to look into the eyes of the perpetrator and respond in three words: I’ve forgiven you. This exactly what Madam Faustina Acheampong, wife of the Late Ignatius Kutu Acheampong did.

The photo below was first sighted in the year 2017, where The Late president Jerry John Rawlings was seen to be having a one-on-one conversation with former First Lady Faustina Acheampong.

Madam Faustina Acheampong was the first Lady of Ghana between the years 1972 and 1978, the time when her husband, General Ignatius Kutu Acheampong was head of state of Ghana as Chairman of the National Redemption Council and Supreme Military Council.

General Ignatius Kutu Acheampong was the same man who was court martialed and executed by firing squad on 16 June 1979 at age 47. This was after the 4 June military coup had brought Flight Lieutenant Jerry Rawlings to power.

It’s been years since her husband was taken away from her, but reconciliation has helped Madam Faustina to forget her past and appreciate her present. Indeed, time they say, heals wounds.

Today Mrs. Acheampong is known to be living in the UK but in June this year (2020), the widow was reported by Ghanafeeds.com to have visited the tomb of her late husband and former head of state to commemorate the 41st anniversary of his passing.
