Thief gets 21 year jail term after returning stolen laptop to take charger

Reports reaching us reveal that a Ho Circuit Court has given a twenty one (21) year jail term to a “notorious” thief who is well known for stealing laptops within the jurisdiction

Nicholas Tetteh who is only 28 years old was arrested after he returned to take a charger of laptop he had already looted.

A report filed by Joy News recounts that, Nicholas Tetteh claims his habit of stealing laptops is motivated by some force he does not even know. He therefore, pleaded guilty to the court for all the charges leveled against him.

Chief Inspector N.K Kumekeh, who happens to be the prosecutor, explained that on September 7, 2020 around 2:30am, Nicholas successfully robbed a student in his hostel. According to Inspector Kumekeh, luck eluded Nicholas when he returned again to take the charger of the laptop he had already taken.

It was upon his return that some of the student apprehended him and gave him up to the Police, where it was realise that Nicholas had been on the wanted list of the Police for a long time.

The court upon hearing the case sentenced Nicholas Tetteh to 18 years imprisonment for robbery and another 3 years for stealing.

Meanwhile, some are of the view that, the jail terms given to individuals who become victims of criminal acts such as this is too much.
